There’s something refreshing about starting over, like opening a brand-new journal, stepping into a clean room, or watching the sunrise after a long night. Spiritually, God gives us that same kind of fresh start through Jesus. When we put our trust in Him, He doesn’t just patch up the old version of us. He makes us completely new.

The beauty of this new life is that it isn’t temporary. It’s not based on how well we perform, how many mistakes we avoid, or how “good” we are. It’s based on God’s mercy and His Spirit working in us. And when He makes us new, we are forever changed.

Holy Spirit has the power to renew all areas of your life.

How to Live a Beautiful Life

Listen to the Week 7 Episode:

Let's Do This Together: pgs. 65-72

Sometimes it’s hard to see ourselves as new. We may still feel stuck in old habits, old thoughts, or old struggles. But being made new is about more than feelings. It’s about God’s truth over our lives.

Think about a caterpillar becoming a butterfly. Once the transformation happens, it can’t go back to being a caterpillar. It was made to fly. The same is true for us. Even when we stumble, our identity hasn't changed. We are daughters of God, marked by His Spirit, and invited to live in freedom.

The key is learning to walk in this newness every day. It might look like letting go of shame, choosing forgiveness, or asking the Holy Spirit to help us make better choices. It’s a daily process of leaning into who God says we are, instead of who we used to be.

Additional Notes & Thoughts: pg. 72

  • What comes to mind when you hear the phrase “new creation”?

  • Do you ever find yourself holding onto old labels, mistakes, or identities? How can you let those go?

  • How does knowing you are “made new” in Christ encourage you in your daily life?

  • What’s one practical way you can walk in your new identity this week?

Mental Health Minute:

Week 7: Unload (pg. 87)

1. Start Here. Hebrews 11:6 ESV

Take a deep breath and remember: God loves when you come close to Him. He is pleased by your faith and He promises to meet you in the middle of your seeking.

2. Things I'm Grateful For

List the ways God has shown you His mercy and love this week. Maybe it’s big like a breakthrough you’ve been praying for. Maybe it’s small like laughter with a friend or a moment of peace. Gratitude helps us see how He’s already making things new.

3. Things to Work On Where do you sense the Holy Spirit nudging you toward growth? Maybe it’s letting go of an old habit, or maybe it’s trusting God in an area you’ve been holding tight. Write it down here.

4. Things I'm Proud Of

Celebrate your progress, even the small steps! What choices, attitudes, or actions this week showed that you’re living in your “new creation” identity?

5. Doodle Space

Draw something that reminds you of new life, like a butterfly, sunrise, blooming flower, or even something abstract that feels like fresh beginnings. Let your creativity flow.

6. Things to Let Go Of

Old labels. Past mistakes. Lies you’ve believed about yourself. Use this space to write down or sketch the things you don’t want to carry anymore. Then imagine laying them at Jesus’ feet and walking away free.

7. Prayers from the Heart

Write a prayer asking Holy Spirit to show you one area of your life that he would like to help you renew.

Final Thoughts

God’s mercy doesn’t just clean up our past—it gives us a whole new beginning. When you said yes to Jesus, He gave you a fresh start that no one can take away.

This week, remind yourself of that truth: You are new. You are His. You are not who you used to be. Let that reality shape the way you live, the choices you make, and the confidence you carry.

Because a beautiful life isn’t about holding on to the old—it’s about stepping fully into the new.

Faithful Chicks Podcast Script

Theme: Becoming New, Living in the Light

Intro: The Fresh Start We All Want

Hey friends, welcome back to the Faithful Chicks Podcast. I’m so glad you’re here today. We are in Week 7 of our Beautiful Life series, and today we’re talking about something that is honestly one of my favorite parts of following Jesus: becoming new.

I think all of us have had moments where we wished we could just start over. Like, pack up our life, move somewhere new, and leave behind the awkward moments, the bad choices, and the version of ourselves we wish people would forget. Or maybe that’s just me.

When you think of the word new, what comes to mind? A new pair of shoes. The first page of a clean notebook. A fresh haircut that makes you feel like a whole new person. There’s something about starting fresh that feels hopeful.

Here’s the good news. God offers us something even better than a surface-level reset. Through the Holy Spirit, He gives us a new life by upgrading the one we’re already living. And it’s not a one-time thing. It’s something He keeps doing in us, day after day.

Reborn by the Spirit: More Than a Symbol

Jesus says something really powerful in John 3:5. He tells us, “No one can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born of water and the Spirit.”

When we accept Christ, we experience what the Bible calls spiritual rebirth. This is not just a symbolic idea or a church phrase. Something supernatural actually happens inside of us.

Let’s talk about water baptism for a second. Physically, baptism represents being washed clean. Going under the water is like saying, “My old life is gone,” and coming up is a picture of new life in Christ. But there’s also something spiritual happening that we don’t see.

The Holy Spirit cleanses us, regenerates us, and renews our very being. Scripture tells us that when we believe in Jesus, we are sealed by the Holy Spirit. That seal is like a divine mark that says, “She belongs to God.” It’s proof of His presence in us and His commitment to finish what He started.

God doesn’t just forgive us and leave us the same. He begins the work of making us new from the inside out.

Becoming New from the Inside Out

Here’s something I want you to really hear. When you choose to follow Jesus, He doesn’t just add a little sparkle to your life and call it good. He’s willing to get to work on the deeper stuff. The hurts. The wrong mindsets. The identity lies we’ve believed for years.

Think about your phone for a second. Have you ever dropped it and cracked the screen so badly that it still worked, but your finger kept catching on the broken glass? It’s technically usable, but everything feels harder.

That’s what life can be like when we’ve been hurt. Trauma, rejection, disappointment, and fear can crack our inner world. We still function, but things don’t flow the way they were meant to.

As we walk with Jesus and live according to God’s ways, it opens space for the Holy Spirit to saturate our lives. God’s light starts to illuminate the areas that aren’t working. And with His help, one crack at a time, He begins to heal us emotionally and spiritually.

When that healing happens, even our physical health and stress levels can improve. Things that used to trigger us or send us into anger or anxiety start to lose their power. Instead of trying to control everything, we learn to trust.

The Holy Spirit helps us by guiding us, giving us wisdom, nudging our hearts, and helping us know the way forward.

The Beliefs That Block the Flow

Here’s something we don’t talk about enough. Many of us are carrying beliefs that don’t line up with Scripture or with how God’s kingdom works. Those beliefs can act like rocks in a river, blocking the flow of the Holy Spirit in our lives.

A lot of these beliefs started when we were kids, just trying to make sense of hard situations. Maybe you were always picked last in PE, and somewhere deep inside, a belief formed that said, “I’m not likable.”

Even if you’ve grown up, matured, and followed Jesus, that belief can still sit under the surface. It might show up as people-pleasing, over-apologizing, or constantly trying to fit in, even when it costs you your peace or your authenticity.

God doesn’t want to pressure you or shame you into being “fixed.” Instead, He invites you on a journey of freedom. A journey where He gently replaces lies with truth and helps you see yourself the way He always has.

This is how renewal happens. Not overnight, but layer by layer.

Going After Healing: The Woman Who Reached for Jesus

One of my favorite stories in the Bible is found in Matthew 9:20–22 and Mark 5. It’s about a woman who had been bleeding for twelve years. She had seen doctors, spent all her money, and instead of getting better, she got worse.

From a worldly perspective, her situation was hopeless.

But she believed something different. She believed that if she could just touch the edge of Jesus’ robe, she would be healed.

What’s incredible is that this story happens while Jesus is on His way to help a synagogue leader whose daughter had just died. There was urgency. There was a crowd. And still, this woman reached out.

The moment she touched Him, she was healed.

God gave her the insight, but she had to act on it. Jesus didn’t force her healing. She chose to believe and step forward.

Maybe you’ve seen God move powerfully in other people’s lives and thought, “I want that too.” Maybe there’s something you’ve struggled with for years and you’re tired of carrying it.

What do you need healing from? I think you probably already know.

Go after the solution by inviting Jesus into that place. Trust that even if it takes time, God is working through every layer.

Everyday Life: With Christ vs Without

Let’s make this really practical.

Imagine you have a stressful day at school. Your friends leave you out of a group chat. You studied hard for a test and still didn’t do well.

Without Christ, it’s easy to spiral. Thoughts like “I’m stupid” or “Nobody cares about me” start playing on repeat. You carry that weight all day, and it slowly pulls you down.

Now imagine the same situation, but you’ve been building your life with God.

Instead of spiraling, you pause. You remember, “I am loved. I am not alone. God can bring something good out of this.”

You ask the Holy Spirit for perspective. Do you need a new study environment? Were your feelings hurt because something deeper is going on? Is there something God wants to gently show you so you can grow?

Maybe you see Luke 11:36 written on your mirror: “If you are filled with light, with no dark corners, then your whole life will be radiant.” Or you play worship music on your walk to class.

The situation doesn’t magically disappear, but your response changes. You don’t lose your identity over one bad moment. That’s what living in the light looks like.

Practical Ways to Renew Your Mind

Becoming new doesn’t have to feel overwhelming. Renewal often starts with small, faithful choices.

Here are a few simple ideas:

  • Put a Bible verse on your mirror so truth is the first thing you see in the morning. Luke 11:36 is a great place to start.

  • Trade ten minutes of scrolling for ten minutes of worship music or a Christian podcast.

  • Before bed, instead of replaying your mistakes, write down one thing you’re grateful for or one way you noticed God that day.

These little habits are like planting seeds. Over time, they grow into peace, clarity, and confidence rooted in Christ.

Living in the Light

Living in the light means letting God’s truth guide you instead of staying stuck in fear, shame, or negativity. It means choosing peace when panic feels easier. It means believing you are new, even if yesterday was messy.

You don’t have to be perfect. You don’t have to pretend. You just let God’s presence shine through you, through your words, your choices, and the way you love people.

And others will notice. They might not know exactly what’s different, but they’ll feel it.

Closing Challenge

So here’s my challenge for you this week. Pick one habit that reminds you of God’s presence. Just one.

Maybe it’s writing a verse on your mirror. Maybe it’s swapping one playlist for worship music. Maybe it’s journaling before bed.

Let it remind you that you are not who you used to be. You are new. You are loved. And you are meant to live in the light.

Thanks for hanging out with me today on the Faithful Chicks Podcast. Remember, you are a new creation, and every single day is an opportunity to live out that fresh start.
