Bring It Into Play
Happiness. It seems like the ultimate pursuit. Why does it fade so quickly?
People can make us happy...until they don’t. Things can make us happy...for a moment. Thrill seeking mimics happiness, then it’s gone.
Maybe Happiness was never meant to be pursued.
Rather it is received as the answer to the equation of serving and doing good. Happiness comes when life isn’t all about you.
This week do something good for someone else. Write a thank you card. Buy someone a treat at the pool. Give someone a hug. “I perceived that there is nothing better for them than to be joyful and to do good as long as they live;” Ecclesiastes 3:12
God, you are the source of true joy in this life. You help me keep my heart and mind set of the right things. Sometimes I can be selfish. It makes me miserable. Help me think about ways to help other people and to make the world a better place by doing good things. Put a burning desire inside of me to read your word. Thank you for being so awesome. I love you! In Jesus Name, Amen.
