The High Way Journal: Week 3 Journal Prompts


The High Way Journal, By Kelly Kirstein, is a guided journal that helps you build faith in Jesus. This post offers one slide per day with simple questions to help you complete each page of part 3. Get closer to God one verse at a time.

Day 1: Journal Pg. 22

  1. Invite Holy Spirit to join you. Ask him to fill you with knowledge and understanding from Heaven.

  2. Why do you think so many people struggle to believe that God created the world?

  3. Write or Draw what you think the Earth looked like as God created it.

  4. Genesis 1:6 tells us God said, "Let there be light," and there was light. What does that tell you about the power of God's words?

  5. If God's words are powerful enough to create things, what do you think that says about the Bible? How could His Word have power in our lives?

Genesis 1:1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. 

Day 2: Journal Pg. 23

  1. Invite Holy Spirit to join you. Ask him to fill you with knowledge and understanding from Heaven.

  2. Scripture tells us many times that God is the only god. Why do you think there are so many other religions in the world?

  3. Read the verse again. Describe how God is different than people.

  4. Imagine what it would be like to be immortal and invisible. How can God use that to help the people he loves?

  5. God is outside of time, so he can see the past, present, and future. If you could ask him one thing about a different time, what would you want to know?

1 Timothy 1:17 To the King of the ages, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory forever and ever. Amen. 

Day 3: Journal Pg. 24

  1. Invite Holy Spirit to fill you up and give you wisdom.

  2. What things happen that make you feel insignificant in this world?

  3. If God loves you enough to want you to spend eternity with him, how does that truth reveal your significance?

  4. Reflect on all the things you have received through believing in Christ. How are the things of eternity longer lasting than things that happen day to day here on earth?

Day 4: Journal Pg. 25

  1. Invite the Holy Spirit to fill you and to feel the mercy of God.

  2. What are the challenges you face in believing in God?

  3. Describe any doubts or worries that you have about the mercy of God.

  4. How would you explain the boundaries that God has set for those who want to be his children?

  5. What areas of your life do you have the hardest time receiving God's mercy?


For the Lord your God is a merciful God. He will not leave you or destroy you or forget the covenant with your fathers that he swore to them. 

Day 5: Journal Pg. 26

  1. Invite Holy Spirit into the areas of you life that you have the hardest time receiving God's mercy.

  2. List the qualities of God that are described in this verse. Recall that John 3:16 tells us that God sent his only Son to save us.

  3. Looking at your list, do your thoughts about God line up with how scripture describes him?

  4. Where do you think you have heard negative things about God?

The Lord passed before him and proclaimed, “The Lord, the Lord, a God merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness,
