Preparing for Christmas can look like a flurry of baking, shopping, wrapping, holiday gatherings, and so much more.
What if this year you did things different? What if you asked God to help you receive a greater understanding of what Christ's birth meant to humanity.
For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Isaiah 9:6 ESV
God formed Adam from the Dust. (Genesis 2:7)
Jesus didn't come from the dust like Adam. He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit. Jesus was different than any other man born on this earth.
"And the angel answered her, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; therefore the child to be born will be called holy—the Son of God." Luke 1:35
The conception and birth of Jesus opened up something no person could understand at the time. The Light of the World had come to earth, preparing to restore the way for God's people to reconnect with the Kingdom of Heaven, so they could dwell with God in eternity. Sin brought darkness and death, but Jesus ushered in the path to eternal life and light.
"The first man was from the earth, a man of dust; the second man is from heaven. As was the man of dust, so also are those who are of the dust, and as is the man of heaven, so also are those who are of heaven. Just as we have borne the image of the man of dust, we shall also bear the image of the man of heaven." 1 Corinthians 15: 47-49
