Worship is an important part of life. It can be done in a variety of ways. Music is one way we can worship.
The way you live is another way to worship God. Serving others. Doing good in the community. Taking care of your body.
Think of your gifts and talents. You can use those as a form of worship.
How can you use those to connect with God?
How can you worship Him while you use your gift?
Heavenly Father. I want to worship you in my life. Not just on Sundays. Could you put things on my heart that would be an act of worship? Help me to get beyond myself. To see a need and try to help. I want to use my talents to worship you. Not to bring attention to myself. Please let your Holy S...
Each year at Mount Hermon Christian Writers Conference is a new adventure. This year I had the opportunity to be on the prayer team, which meant that I spent the weeks leading up to the conference praying for God's will to penetrate the atmosphere and for the faculty and attendees recognize and obey His will.
For my fourth year attending, God asked me to build my contact list for a devotional app that I am developing. Every workshop I attended helped me grow the vision for the app and understand the business side of my ministry. I met with publishers and book distributors to pitch the vision and gather information from them. I realized that I have a lot to learn, and that is okay. I trust God to lead me.
The absolute best part was reconnecting with friends and meeting new ones. It encourages me to meet other believers who have surrendered their lives to the fullness of God's plans. Not an easy journey, but well worth it.
I often get asked, "Will you be coming back next ye...
CGD Chicks was blessed once again by Sue Mechem, who allowed us to apply for Thrivent Financial: Live Generously Grant. The $250 grant allowed Chicks to purchase the supplies for ourBlessing Jars.
Each Chicks member was encouraged to gift her Blessing Jar to a young woman within one year of her age, in order to share her faith in Christ, to invite the young women to Chicks, and to bless a friend during this Christmas Season.
Chicks members also enjoyed a loaded ice cream sundae to add to the excitement. It was a fun filled day!
Supplies for the Blessing Jar:
Quart Sized Mason Jars
Red, Green, & White Tissue Paper
Reeses, Rolos, Jolly Rachers, Snickers, Hershey Kisses etc.
Candy Canes (not mint because it affects the flavor of the other candy)
What an amazing week the NorthEast Iowa Christian Service Camp (NEICSC)! Chicks leaders Kara Curry and Kelly Kirstein volunteered as counselors, while 9 High School Chicks members participated as campers. Together we studied God's Word, worshiped, prayed, participated in family groups, played lots of games, attended nightly campfires, swam, and so much more. The highlight of the week came when Makena chose to proclaim her devotion to Christ through baptism. Two other young women plan to be baptized at home. God moved through this camp in powerful ways this week!
Added Bonus: 4th graders Nic Curry (Kara's son) & Jacqueline Kirstein (Kelly's daughter) got to join in on the week too, since their mom's were serving as counselors.
Mount Hermon Christian Writers Conference allows writers to meet with publishers, agents, and editors, take classes to improve our writing, and meet fellow Christian writers.
This was my third year attending. The first two years I went with a plan of attack to get my money's worth out of the conference. This year I asked God to make it what He wanted it to be. The blessing in surrender came when I connected with people I never expected and found myself in devotional writing workshops.
My absolute favorite part is reconnecting with friends I met the previous two years. There are a few more special people from whom I am still waiting to receive photos, but you are able to get a flavor for the experience.
1. Pick Your Journaling Bible- You may not want to use your primary study Bible, since you will likely be coloring on pages and marking up the text. The Chicks used the Bible they were given when they joined the group.
2. Recommended Websites-Illustrated Faith & Pinterest are great resources for information and ideas about the process.
3. Grab a Pocket Journal and a Pencil- so you can write down thoughts and ideas before you dive into your Bible.
1. Pray- Ask God to Open your Heart, Fill you with the Holy Spirit, and Speak to you.
2. Listen for His voice through the entire process. Expect to hear God through the Holy Spirit.
3. In Your Pocket Journal- Write down topics that are relevant in your life, questions you have, requests or needs that you have.
4. Choose One for Your Focus-Faith in Jesus Christ is about more than going to Heaven when you die. You can use the Bible and the power of the Holy Spirit to help you with your daily life.
Operation Christmas Child, uses gift-filled shoeboxes to demonstrate God’s love in a tangible way to children in need around the world. This was the perfect project for us as the Christmas season approached. Chicks members decorated and filled eleven shoe boxes for the cause. Through the process of putting together the boxes, the group listened to the Audio Adrenaline song “Kings and Queens” to remember that we are called by God to share the Love of Jesus Christ.
Brittany Boeset and Haley Krieger attended Chicks from the very first meeting in March 2010. When it came time to choose their final Senior Project, they asked their leader Kelly Kirstein, to help them put together an event called Teens 4 God. Through months of preparation, the young women planned a day where teens participated in breakout sessions, shared a meal, and enjoyed a Christian concert by The Elim Arrival. The results were happy teens and an A on their Senior Project!
Chicks celebrated our three seniors Bailey, Brittany, & Haley by throwing them a big party. The Chicks Leaders dressed up and acted out a skit that predicted where Bailey, Brittany, and Haley’s would be in 20 years. Then the younger Chicks Members prepared the three Seniors for college life, by dressing them up and doing their make-up. Through laughter and tears, we prayed for their future and said goodbye to our three beloved Senior Chicks.
