“Set a guard, O Lord, over my mouth; keep watch over the door of my lips!” Psalm 141:3 ESV
Bring It Into Play
Are you speaking light or darkness... onto the people you talk to? Words spoken matter. They are a direct overflow from your heart.
How’s your heart doing?
Do your words reflect life, encouragement, love, kindness, and humility? ...Light
Or do they spew out with anger, bitterness, resentment, harsh thoughts? ...Dark
It is possible to speak both light and dark in a day. Actually in one conversation. First praising God for what He has done. Then turning dark through gossip. Harsh thoughts. Or rebellious attitudes.
Today, take time to think about the trail your words left behind you. Ask God to help you bring light to the darkness of your words.
Allow the Holy Spirit to convict you. Ask for forgiveness and pray for the renewing of your mind, so you spill over with light.
God let me be a person who speaks light. I know there are times when I spew out harsh feelings. I don't know what to do with those feelings or how to stop speaking them. I need your to show me what you expect me to do. Cleanse my heart of the things that keep me from being kind and loving. I want to be the light everywhere I go. Forgive me for the times when I have not honored you with my words. I want to change that. I love you. In Your Son's Name, Amen.
