Understanding the Concept: Your Best Versus The Best

How is being Your Best different than trying to be The Best?

Let's use sports, music, dance...basically any organized activity for an example.

The Best:

You try to beat out everyone, including your best friends because you only feel good about yourself when your the best.

It is hard to celebrate other people's success because it means they may get ahead of you.

You hurt someone's feelings when they got in your way. "That's the way it goes."

How well you do and how far you go depends on you and how much effort you put in.

Your Best:

Before activity you ask God to make it what He wants it to be.

Then You go out there and give it what you have. Any success, you praise Him. Any failure, you ask Him what you can learn from it.

You celebrate other people's successes. You can be Your Best at the same time as other people are being their best. It makes the game fun.

Part of being Your Best means that you show kindness, compassion, humility, and patience to your teammates. Demonstrating those qualities are as important as the way you play.
