Being Kind: Even When People Don't Deserve It

Mindset Link

Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you. Ephesians 4:32 NIV

Bring It Into Play

Kindness. Sometimes it is really hard to be kind. Someone may have hurt your feelings or made you angry, so the last thing you want to do is to be kind. In fact, you may want to tell them off.

That would actually be the wimpy decision.

The most powerful response is to show kindness, even when the person doesn't deserve it.

Why? Because it is hard, so it requires more strength and reliance on Jesus to do as He did.

Action Step:

Read Ephesians 4:32 again.

Think of a time you failed to show kindness. How could you do things differently the next time?

Do you need to forgive someone that hurt you or made you angry? In Ephesians, you are reminded to forgive others as Christ forgave you. If you don't know how to forgive, ask Jesus to help you.

Prayer

Jesus, your love is so pure and powerful. You always forgive. That is so awesome. Help me to be more like you. To show kindness, when people don't deserve it. To forgive, even when it feels like I can't. Remind me of the grace you have shown me, so I can show it to others. It is in your name I pray. Amen.
