Titus 3:1 Remind them to be submissive to rulers and authorities, to be obedient, to be ready for every good work.
Romans 13:1-2 "Let everyone be subject to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God. Consequently, whoever rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves."
Bring It Into Play
1. How do you feel when you get into a situation where there are a lot of rules? Do rules bother you or do you like having rules?
2. Why do you think it is so hard for people to follow the rules?
Example: When the speed limit is 55 miles/hour, most people drive faster than the limit either by a little or a lot.
3. Reread the mindset links slowly several times. Why do you think God wants us to follow the rules that are put in place by people in authority?
4. What happens to people who get in the habit of continually breaking rules? Describe how this is this an area of strength or weakness for you?
Action Step: Today in situations where you would normally resist or argue with a person of authority. Do what they ask with a willing heart.

Jesus, you are the one who understands everything and you sees it all. Help me to understand why your followers need to follow rules even when we don't like them. Sometimes it is hard for me because it feels like someone is trying to control me. Allow me to see how rule breaking is affecting me and the other people around me. Help me to desire to walk in your ways and to understand that rules protect me from getting hurt. Thank you for your son. It is in His name I pray. Amen
