How Do I Follow God's Plans for Me?

Song: Lauren Daigle "Trust In You"

Does it ever blow your mind when you realize that God has plans for your life?

He is the God of the Universe ...And He has plans for you!

1. How Do I Know God Has Plans for Me?

Simple His Word tells you! Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

THE QUESTION? Do you want to follow God's Plan for your life?

2. I Want to Follow God's Plan, But How?

Imagine a fork in the road. One path you can choose to journey with Jesus. The other path you go it alone. Which one will you choose?

If you want to follow God's plan take Jesus' hand and the journey begins!

Put simply Matthew 7:13-14 tells us that you have a choice to follow the Narrow Road (God's Plans) or you can take the Wide Road (Any Other Plans). God's plans lead to life and any other plans will cause you harm because they will lead you in the wrong direction.

Matthew 7:13-14 “Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.”

3. I Chose the Narrow Road...Now What Do I Do Now?

Each day ask Jesus to guide your steps and use the map God gave you.

What Map? The Bible!

Psalm 119: 105 “Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.”

Prayer and reading scripture are the two things that help you create a heart connection with Jesus that will allow you to understand where He is leading you. Don't worry if you don't understand...the first steps are about the desire to follow Jesus and starting the journey!

4. BEWARE: Of False Light

False light is not from God! How do you recognize it?

Write down the activities you are good at or enjoy doing, things you want, special people, and jobs that require your time. If one of these comes before Jesus, it will shine false light.

How do you spot false light?

* It doesn't lead you in a way that matches up with God's word.

* It draws you away from Jesus instead of drawing you close to Him.

Examples: False Light gets in the way of Church, Youth Group, Bible Study, Things you do to connect with Jesus

What is the problem with following false light?

* You are no longer on the Narrow Road, which is how you follow God's Plan.

* False light will ultimately hurt you because it leads you in the wrong direction.

Isaiah 50:11 “But now, all you who light fires and provide yourselves with flaming torches, go, walk in the light of your fires and of the torches you have set ablaze. This is what you shall receive from my hand: You will lie down in torment.”
